Advancing Mathematical Thinking for Young People Worldwide

The Kangaroo Maths Trust (KMT) is a UK charitable trust dedicated to widening access to high-quality mathematical enrichment, problem solving, and educational opportunity. As a strategic partner of Association Kangourou Sans Frontières (AKSF), we support the long-term development of Kangaroo Mathematics activities while operating independently in pursuit of our own charitable mission.

About The Kangaroo Maths Trust

An independent UK charitable organisation advancing mathematical education and enrichment, with a particular commitment to underserved regions and lower-resourced educational settings worldwide.

Independent Charity

We operate with our own Board of Trustees, governance framework, and charitable mission. We collaborate internationally while maintaining full organisational independence.

Widening Access

We are committed to reducing barriers to participation in mathematical enrichment, supporting pupils and schools in underserved or lower-resourced contexts where access to enrichment is more limited.

Our Mission

To promote the enjoyment, understanding, and practice of mathematics among children and young people through high-quality enrichment activities, while reducing barriers and enabling access in lower-resourced contexts.

The Kangaroo Maths Trust exists to advance mathematical education and enrichment. Our purpose is to increase access to meaningful mathematical challenge, encourage curiosity and confidence in mathematics, and provide opportunities for pupils to engage with mathematical thinking beyond the standard classroom experience.

We serve the public benefit through activities that promote mathematical learning, participation, and attainment. Our work is accessible, educationally valuable, and aligned with our charitable objects. In particular, we aim to reduce barriers to participation in mathematical enrichment, supporting pupils and schools where access is more limited.

We believe mathematics should be: intellectually exciting, accessible to all students, a tool for confidence and creativity, and a bridge to future opportunity.

Our Approach

We have a clear, strategic plan for creating meaningful change in mathematical education. We aim to maintain strong oversight, transparency, independence and responsible stewardship.

01

The Challenge

Access to mathematical enrichment is unequal. Many schools and pupils lack opportunities to experience the joy of problem-solving beyond the standard curriculum, particularly in lower-resourced settings.

02

Our Role

As an independent Trust and strategic partner of AKSF, we act as a coordinating, governing, and enabling body. We support high-quality enrichment activities, provide financial stewardship, and build partnerships.

03

The Change We Seek

More young people, regardless of background, will develop confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills through meaningful mathematical challenge.

We Are Committed to Doing Things Right

We are governed by an independent Board of Trustees, we are transparent with our finances, and we are accountable to you, our supporters. Our work is guided by:

Our commitments:
Independent governance Educational integrity Financial stewardship Transparency Responsible charitable operation

Committee structure: We are supported by a Finance Committee (overseeing finance, fundraising, risk, and audit) and a Math Committee (supporting mathematical content, quality, and educational considerations).

KMT AKSF
Strategic Partnership

Strategic Partnership with Association Kangourou Sans Frontières (AKSF)

We are proud to serve as a strategic partner of Association Kangourou Sans Frontières (AKSF), the international organisation coordinating the global Kangaroo Mathematics competititons.

Through this strategic partnership, we support the long-term growth, accessibility, and educational development of Kangaroo Mathematics activities internationally. Together, we are committed to fostering mathematical enthusiasm, problem-solving skills, and educational excellence for young people across the world.

Our partnership with AKSF is built on shared values: a deep commitment to mathematical education, educational quality and integrity, widening participation, and collaborative international development.

While AKSF remains our flagship area of support, KMT is an independent charity with a broader mission to advance mathematical enrichment, participation and educational opportunity worldwide.

Our Founding Supporter

Kangaroo Maths Trust has been established thanks to the support of XTX Markets.

XTX's founding donation has enabled the Trust to begin building a long-term charitable platform dedicated to advancing mathematical thinking, widening participation, and supporting educational opportunity worldwide.

Through this support, KMT is able to invest in programmes that reach underserved communities, strengthen mathematics education, support teachers, and develop partnerships that create lasting impact for future generations of learners.

We are grateful for XTX's confidence in our mission and its commitment to helping young people discover the power and beauty of mathematics.

Board of Trustees

We are governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees responsible for our strategic direction, governance, and long-term sustainability.
